Which browsers/operating systems/platforms are used on Litmus?

Litmus runs its tests on whichever platform is most appropriate for a particular client. There are some exceptions, due to licensing constraints, where Litmus may use a slightly older or newer version of an operating system to offer better, cheaper and faster testing to our customers.

Microsoft Windows

The majority of our machines run Windows 7 Pro. Outlook 2013 previews are run on Windows 7 (2008 R2).

Mac OS 10.7 (Lion)

We offer Apple Mail 5, Outlook 2011 for Mac, Safari 5.1 OSX, Chrome OSX 30, and Firefox OSX 24.

Mac OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

We offer Apple Mail 6.

Web-based email

We open web-based email clients in Internet Explorer 9, the Firefox 22, and Chrome 30. Android and iPhone webmails (Outlook.com, Yahoo! Mail, and Gmail) are using the default Android browser on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0 and the default iPhone browser on an iPhone 4S using iOS6. The Android Gmail app is version 4.5.2-714156 on Android 4.2.2

Microsoft Outlook

Outlook decides which version of Internet Explorer to use based on the version that operating system has installed. The table below shows the version used by Litmus for each version of Outlook.

Email Client Version Used
Outlook 2000 Internet Explorer 6
Outlook 2002 Internet Explorer 7
Outlook 2003 Internet Explorer 7
Outlook 2007 Word 2007

Screen resolution

We currently use 1024×768 resolution. PC-based desktop/webmail client and browser previews are on machines using 96 DPI.
