Holiday Extras is a fast moving technology business where our purpose is to make travel better. We make it easy for customers to make the most of their trip. With over 4 million bookings a year we are one of the UK’s most innovative travel companies and continue to grow fast and expand our offering.
We’re the UK market leader in travel ancillaries; once you have booked a flight and accommodation, we take care of the rest. That includes airport hotels, insurance, airport parking, lounges, foreign currency, car hire, resort transfers and attractions. Almost all of our business is conducted online, either direct through our own website and apps or through our network of partners that include the major travel retailers, airlines and tour operators.
The Email Team at Holiday Extras manages and delivers email communications to our 6 million subscribed customers; from direct and intermediary customers to our partnerships retail agents. These communications stretch across multiple brands and are for a variety of purposes such as sales, transactions and product information. We’re a trading group but also the channel by which our product, customer and commercial teams communicate at scale with their customers.
We think of ourselves as the curators of the customer journey; identifying the right communication points and developing dynamic email designs that house the right content for the customer and our business. The frequency, relevancy and segmentation of our emails is of utmost importance.
What we’re offering...
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, talented Email Developer to help our team craft the best email journeys with clarity, technology and usability at the forefront of their mind. This role doesn’t stop at coding emails though - you’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of email areas ranging from mailing list growth, creative design, database management, innovative layouts and beyond.
As an Email Developer you’ll have a key contribution to our team targets by careful management of a large cross-brand mailing lists and the delivery of email communications that encourage the purchase of our products. You’ll be engineering and designing communications for product, commercial and customer teams to form a seamless and useful part of the customer's journey.
You’ll be improving the creative and the functionality on our scheduled email sends with iterations and improvements in most sprints, utilising split-testing with a view to reach our commercial targets.
Our Learning Academy, quiet Lounge, supportive environment and focus on personal development, all help our team members grow and become experts in their field! Our fortnightly “Project Lounge” days give our developers the chance to work on something different, extend their knowledge, create something breathtaking or simply collaborate in a project to make a difference.

It’s great if you have experience in any of the following too:
- Working in Oracle Responsys, Email on Acid and Return Path
- Familiarity with dreamweaver or similar HTML editing tool
- Building mobile first in a responsive way
- Working in an agile, scrum team
- Using Jira or a similar work tracking system
