How accurate are Litmus and Emails on Acid's previews for more than one platform?
Litmus has been used by my team for a while. For a long time, every time we saw a visual mistake in Litmus, we would pull out our hair trying to fix it. We didn't do it most of the time. We tried it in all the browsers and clients we had access to, but we could never get the error in Litmus to happen again. Is this something that happens often? If so, how have all of your visual client previews gone with these services?
We're dealing with automated previews and sometimes a snapshot can be taken too early in the rendering process or it could just be a one in a million rendering error in the actual client itself, that disappears when retesting.
The industry consensus is that a 'physical' inbox which you can open emails in and interact with, is always the best option. So, if you see a bug in a testing service and can't find an obvious fix, sending a test to your own test inbox and checking there is a really good backup. An added bonus for Webmail clients is thst you can also use your chosen browser's dev tools and see if you can debug with the rendered code.
Testing services aren't foolproof and that is accepted in the industry as it isn't often (at least in my experience) that a bug appears there and nowhere else.
Email on acid is a great tool for what it's supposed to do. Gives you previews for all the clients you would possibly need. EMail on Acid is cheaper and you get unlimited previews. It works perfectly. Litmus recently out a cap on previews which is a real bummer.
