Does anyone still believe View in Browser links are needed?
We are debating on removing View in Browser links from our emails. There is a low click rate and we work hard to ensure emails render correctly on all browsers. We are leaning towards removing as it would make for one less item to test.
Thoughts?
You're doing all the right things in digging into whether or not the View in Browser links are still worth putting in your emails. I say if engagement is really low, then remove it. It's not worth the time you're spending QAing that piece anymore.
I still like having the link somewhere in the email - whether at the top or bottom. As a subscriber, it drives me crazy when an email isn't rendering well on my device, or the images aren't loading, etc. and there's no view online link to see the email better.
I think us EmailGeeks need that link to share content we receive and love.
I hate it when I receive a good email and cannot easily share it via the link
I know, I could forward it, but this cuts all possibilities of feedbacks about it, no one would reply "oooooh love it" to a forwarded email like my coworkers do on Slack ;)
I'm curious when you say "it's one less item to test" - how are your "view in browser" links generated?
we generate through our ESP but we always test to sure it generates correctly.
Isn't it also one of the things, that makes your email a bit better in spam categories?
I have often wondered the same thing as the VIB link in our emails also has a low click rate. I am leaning more towards removing it.
