I'm using empty alt attributes on images that serve a design purpose only. However I still want these design elements to be clickable.

Testing on both Litmus NVDA Preview and iOS VoiceOver, I find that this simple example...

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" role="presentation" style="width:100%;margin:0 auto;">
    <tr>
        <td align="center" style="padding:20px 0;">
            <a href="https://www.google.com/" style="text-decoration:none;" target="_blank">
                <img src="https://www.google.com/images/branding/googlelogo/2x/googlelogo_color_272x92dp.png" width="272" border="0" alt="" />
            </a>
        </td>
    </tr>
</table>

What's the best way to get screen readers to skip over this content entirely, while still having the image be clickable?

Thank you!
