We have a few emails we would like to embed video or audio into (don't worry, no autoplay) so our iOS and Apple Mail users can play them right there in the email. We also have simple fallbacks for every other client that links to a webversion of the video or audio file. Fully tests out perfectly in Litmus and even Campaign Monitor.

But then I go upload the custom code into Mailchimp and they strip both out. I've tried third-party inliners, I've tried manually adding it back, but after I initiate the send, Mailchimp strips it out.

I talked to Mailchimp support and got the "but you see, this ensure nobody is left out!" response.

Anyways, does anybody know any hacks or workaround in Mailchimp custom coded templates to retain these tags?
