We've got a client who suddenly experiences that two things happen to animated gifs in her Outlook:

  • a huge play button overlay covers the picture (it's not playing by default)
  • the pictures get stretched weirdly, as if they were forced to be rendered higher than they originally are

I'm pretty certain it's on Windows.
Allegedly, her Outlook client updated last weekend.

We can't reproduce the problem via Litmus or our Windows laptop for test purposes.

I checked the Microsoft 365 Roadmap which would support the thesis, that there recently has been an update to show animated gifs - according to the roadmap, it's still in development, though.

Has anyone of you encountered this problem before?
