Is an “Add to Calendar” button possible without an.ics file in an Automated email?

I have a client request, where they'd like to have an Calendar/Event reminder which turns a link into the same kind of thing you'd get with a .ics file. So when you click it, it would open your default Calendar App and put a reminder in, with parameters like Day, Time (to and from), Title, Location, etc. The web app is for booking exercise classes.
I know Apple Mail and Gmail already do this, they recognise any dates your output and create links around them so Calendar recognises them.
However I'm not sure about Outlook... also this system is mainly B2B, so most people will be locked to Windows and Outlook, so no Mac or iPhone users.
These are Automated emails, so they'll be unique.
