Title Tags on HTML Emails
When I was at the Email Design Conference last September I was told that you were better off leaving the title tag empty as it was a hindrance in some email clients and the only place it was of any benefit was when viewing in the browser. I have been unable to find anything that explains this in any detal. Is this something I just misunderstood after a few beers or does anyone have some insite on this?
Hi Tim,
I always use
<title>
and I've never seen it do any harm. I know it used to show up on Android push notifications before they scrapped their native client. But that's gone now and wasn't really a bad thing either.Not heard of any negatives for using it, but be interested to know if anyone has seen anything bad.
Thanks Mark!
I'm with Mark on this in the sense that they don't cause any issues but I've not seen any uplift when AB testing in the past.
But it all depends on your subscriber base - as everything depends on your specific subscriber base so if someone tells you something you should always test it against your audience! :)
