Frequency of emails a week!?
Hey Litmus Community!
I was wondering if anyone knew of some information on frequency of emailing to a list. How many emails a week is to much for a contact? How many in a day is to much? Any information on this would be great!
Thanks,
-tommy
Tommy, this really varies wildly and there are many factors at work, including (1) expectations you set during signup, (2) the value of your emails, (3) if you give your subscribers the ability to indicate topic and frequency preferences, (4) how you build your email list, and (5) what industry you're in and how often your peers tend to send emails. For instance, most daily deal retailers send email every day--sometimes more. But a daily cadence for pretty much any B2B brand would be disastrous.
I think it depends on too many factors. I get two emails per day from Sur La Table (one morning, one evening) and I think that's too much. If it was a newsletter I signed up for though, it could be just right.
Hi Tommy,
It really depends on your campaign. If you feel that you have high-quality content that your subscribers may be interested in, then 1 to 2 emails a week would be good. However, you need to be careful about over-mailing and under-mailing. Most subscribers mark emails as spam if they get too many emails.
An average of 2 to 3 emails a month would suffice for some campaigns. Most users nowadays look for more personalized and highly-targeted content that can give them what they want, so make sure that your content is engaging.
