Top TEDC Boston Takeaways
It's been a few days since the end TEDC Boston. Post-conference come down is a real thing for email geeks.
So to keep the TEDC feeling alive, and for those who couldn't be there, we'd love for you to share what your top ideas, thoughts, and takeaways were from TEDC Boston.
It could be something you learnt from the talks or from talking to other email geeks-we'd love to hear them!
I first went to the conference in 2014. I came away with a ton of great info. I was still pretty new to working with media queries so it helped shed light on some things.
During the first day of this year's conference I started thinking I wasn't getting as much out of it, but I realized what I was learning and focusing on was much different this year. Where in 2014 it was primarily the nuts and bolts, this year had me thinking more strategically. I got the most out of the opening day one session on Design Leadership. It touched upon a lot of what I am dealing with at my organization. Same thing with the Girl Scouts session. We deal with many people sending emails in a similar way that they have satellite offices sending things, so it was great knowing they struggle with it as well.
My only regret is not being more sociable. I'm really not a networking or small-talk type of person and I shied away from most things outside of sitting in the sessions.
I'm looking forward to 2017 though and I hope to get even more out of it next time.
When I went to the very first TEDC, I'd just taken over email marketing, and I felt like I'd driven a Volkswagen to a Rolls Royce convention! The biggest difference in this conference is that I not only got ideas, but I know I can execute them.
My biggest takeaway: Strategic thinking! My email marketing program has grown like a house to which I've kept adding rooms, resulting in something that resembles the Weasley family's "Burrow." It's time to rebuild with an end-to-end plan in a way that's scalable and consistent throughout.
Posted a blog post about it on the Whereoware blog. You can check it out here:
