I know image maps are not the best way to go but I am dealing with a client and a designer that inisist on an extremely complicated design that includes a sidebar and main content area, both consisting of stacked boxes with one pixel borders and exact (to the pixel measurement) spacers between each section. Each box also contains right aligned images and to top it all off they insist on using their own proprietary font. So the only solution to this is to use an image. And the only negative feedback I have received from testing is this: "FYI, I tested on the phone - the links do work and correspond to the story but the entire artwork patch was greyed out when I clicked." No one has complained about anything else.

Is there a way to alter the image map code to prevent this, or some other way to code the links in a single image?
