Way back in 2003, the CAN-SPAM Act was passed in the US, setting a low bar for email legal compliance. While that law hasn’t been revisited in over a decade, there have been other anti-spam laws outside of the US and other security and privacy laws in the US and elsewhere that have affected email marketers.
