What ESPs are you using for promotional and transactional emails?
At Code School, we're using MailChimp for promotional and some automated onboarding sets.
We use Mandrill for transactionals and a few are combined with code within our Rails app.
I'd love to know your scenario...
Similar setup for us right now, except we use Pardot for promotional and onboarding emails. Mandrill and Rails-triggered stuff for most transactional emails.
For personal stuff, I use and love Campaign Monitor. MailChimp for most random projects (helping friends set things up, etc.).
Hi Dan, I included three different scenarios below, all of which I'm actively involved in.
Canfield Scientific (Day Job)
Promotional Emails - Campaign Monitor
Transactional Emails - We have a number of web products that send transactional emails. We roll our own small system, not the best, but we get by.
SeatGeek (Freelance)
Promotional Emails - Sailthru, but I believe they're looking into alternatives
Transactional - They rolled their own system, like above. I think they like it's reliability, it's just super easy to build upon or tweak.
Home Exchange (Freelance)
Promotional - MailChimp (I believe)
Transactional - Mandrill
We use our own ESP software called Clang (Demo video) for transactional and promotional emails. We use it to create (automated) campaigns, drag & drop emailtemplates etc. and has a build in CRM from where we can create segmentations in so called profiles.
Responsys for promotional, and I think we'll soon be using Mandrill for Transactional
We're using Cheetahmail here, but we're looking at moving to Oracle's Eloqua by the end of the year because we need something more robust than what Experian provides.
Ever have any issues with Cheetahmail code wise?
Yes, actually. For some reason Cheetahmail randomly strips out our alt tags from some images, which is incredibly frustrating. We're also having issues with AOL only delivering the text-only versions of our emails, though we've been told that will happen with email file sizes over 35K so that may not be a Cheetahmail issue.
Mailgun for transactional.
Intercom and Vero for life-cycle and promotional.
Mailgun, eh? ;)
Ok, so I was being lighthearted for a moment, but Vero looks so good. I'll have to bug you about how well that works.
Just started a new job where they use Teradata - I've only had limited experience with it so far but first impressions are not very good. It seems very clunky and difficult to use/navigate. DotMailer is one I have used in the past quite abit and that has always seemed like a solid ESP.
Has anyone else had experience of Teradata? (Sounds like some 70's Horror B-movie: Terror Data!)
Cheers
Jody
We use Smart Focus for both our transactional and promotional. Both are run off different IPs though.
We're thinking of using Marketo. Anybody have experience with them?
@Dan, I work at a digital marketing software provider, and would be happy to tell you about our product and the types of clients that use it. In addition to sending marketing and transactional emails, our Platform also offers social media posting, landing pages, surveys, forms and modal generators, and we recently incorporated a brand monitoring tool from Spiral16. Oh, and the Litmus email rendering and spam filter check tools are integrated into our Platform (which we love)! Shoot me an email at expert@emfluence.com, I'd love to chat about your ESP needs.
Thank you! I was mostly interested in getting an idea of what various people in the industry are using.
