SPAM Keywords
When trying to avoid being sent to the SPAM folder, how much do you try to avoid "SPAM keywords" in your emails? Words that are supposed to be flagged by ESPs and have your emails be treated as SPAM. I know there are things in the message that would obviously be seen as suspicious, but is it logical to spend time in researching what words are good and what words aren't?
Are there any truths in this infographic.
Myth #7 is claiming that these keywords have little to no effect on the 540 billion emails sent.
This is one for Andrew Bonar, I'll point him here! :)
From my understanding, back in the days (10 years ago or so) spam-filters algorithms would scanning emails for blacklisted patterns to catch spam. This would account for about 80% of messages being sent to spam, meaning that if you had a set of keywords in the body or subject of the email you would have a high chance of ending in the spam folder. However, things have changed, IP reputation, domain reputation and most importantly, User's behaviour are more important factors for the fight against spam.
I would assume today using keywords-scanning in your emails as a weapon to detect spam is not a meaningful way to understand if an email is really spam.
(I'll try and get some sources on what I just wrote..I remember having a report of this somewhere)
