We've run into an issue where AOL only delivers text versions of most of our emails.

We believe it's because our HTML emails are frequently over 35K (not counting images), which we've been told is the file size limit for AOL Webmail, however emails that are up to 48K still get delivered no problem.

Does anyone have any more knowledge about this they can share?

We'd like to avoid having to craft additional, truncated versions of all our emails just for AOL sends, but a large enough segment of our customers receive our emails via AOL so we have to do something.
