Bounces from aol email accounts.
We have been sending monthly emails to a sizable list with an average bounce rate well under 1%. However, in the last few days or weeks we have seen soaring bounce rates, in the 8% range, mostly driven by AOL email addresses. Any thoughts the cause of this would be helpful as I look to understand what has changed.
Thanks!
Are you able to access the bounce reasons through your ESP? AOL (I think?) returns very specific ones: http://postmaster.aol.com/Postmaster.Errors.php
Also, are you able to see spam complaint rates on your campaigns? Those might give you some insight. You can do an AOL sender reputation check with their tool here: http://postmaster.aol.com/Reputation.php
Hey Matt,
Loved your presentation at TEDC13 in Boston this year!
Thanks for the suggestions, I was able to dig into the complaint rates on our campaign and I see mostly 554 RTR:DE, which if I am correct is a blocked IP. Simultaneously, we got a response from iContact letting us know that they are working with AOL and that the issue is on their end.
Thanks again for the quick response! this was my first foray into AOL Postmaster, though probably not my last.
Cheers!
Aaron
