Nick Sherman from Webtype wrote a nice blog post relating the Blue Beanie Day movement for web standards support and the current lack of standards support in email clients. He also mentions Webtype's decision to only use modern web standards in their emails: "we decided it was about time to say 'to hell with bad e-mail clients'" despite a large number of clients not being able to render the emails correctly.

Has anyone taken this approach?

If so, what percentage of your audience were using mostly standards compliant clients (iOS, Apple Mail, Android Stock 4+)?

What is everyone's opinion on this type of decision?

Would people be interested in organizing something similar to Blue Beanie Day to show support for the need for standards in email?
