.MIL or .GOV Email
I recently spoke with some military IT guys and they stated that the military strictly prohibits external emails coming into .MIL inboxes. Supposedly their .MIL email address is only for internal communications and should not be given out for external communication.
Does anyone currently exclude .MIL or .GOV email addresses from your Sendable email lists? Do you allow them to come into your database & send to them?
We have a few thousand .MIL email addresses on our database. Should I start excluding the .MIL addresses. (It's not like it's easy to get in the inbox, as most of the time military filters catch external emails)
Thoughts???
Honestly, if they give you their email address you should probably trust that they can get email there. I know for sure .gov addresses send and receive to general internet addresses. I don't know about .mil but what have you got to lose by keeping them on the list? They are running their own email servers so getting bounces won't hurt your rep. It won't cost you any extra.
Thanks Ed!
I formerly worked for a company who solely marketed to military and DoD email addresses and I never heard of this 'rule'. Granted, I have been out of that company for about two years now but it certainly wasn't a restriction back then (and I assure you that company is still sending emails to that audience, as it is their lifeblood).
Ok. Appreciate the comment Mike!
