What do you think about Android KitKat 4.4.2?
By the looks of things, the recent Android update replaced the native inbox core with the Gmail app core, so emails are no longer responsive. I guess the media query and styles are being ripped out of the head.
To put a positive spin on it, maybe now Google will be making strides to update their Gmail app and the Android native inbox simultaneously in future releases. At least they are consistent..
Is this gonna last forever..!?
It's certainly a step back if this is the case. I've seen a lot of mixed reports so I'm waiting on the system update to be rolled out to our test device in the UK before testing. Have any US based folks tested?
There do also seem to be rumours about the Gmail App no longer stripping styles so maybe we'll get some good news too.
The major downside from what I'm hearing is the lack of support for 'display: block;'. This pretty much renders our current approach to Responsive Design null and void i.e. turning columns into rows.
We could cope with the limitations on the Samsung S4, but this to every device using 4.4.2 is going to be a killer.
I have a Razr through a corporation, and the gmail app renders emails responsive but the native app still does not. I updated from 4.2.2...in which the same actually occurred.
I know this is very strange...anyone else seeing this oddity? Either way, Google is putting themselves behind Apple with this. It's frustrating.
Is there any logic to ignoring media queries?
